Timeline

2006

July 31st - Contractors beginning preparations to install fencing and safety covered walkways around the construction site.

August 9th - Modular units installed to provide supplemental classroom and office space during the construction.

August 17th - Several new classrooms added to provide additional space during the renovation. (Read More)

2007

General Construction

  • Overall project is approx. 25% complete. Occupancy still scheduled for Fall Classes of 2008. Actual move-in to be coordinated through Academic Affairs.
  • 95% of demo work complete. (Some misc. core drilling still outstanding).
  • Hazardous Material abatement work is 97% complete.
  • Structural seismic strenghting of concrete shear walls is 95% complete.
  • New HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems have started to be installed.
  • New door openings are complete.
  • New interior wall framing is 10% complete.
  • New elevator shaft walls are complete at this time.

Spring- Most demolition work completed. Layout of new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems begins.

Group II Furniture & Equipment Status

  • June/July- Campus waiting for Sacramento / Chancellor's Office preliminary funding approval
  • September/October- Formal approval

Retain Group II consultant - Fall 2007 Commence procurement end of 2007 beginning of 2008.

  • December- Work with departments to confirm Furniture and Equipment requests
  • 2008

    • January/February- Work with departments to obtain F&E quotes
    • March- Confirm quotes and commence F&E procurement
    • Spring/Summer- New furniture and equipment arrives and is delivered into building 3.
    • Summer- Renovation Completed. Departments move any stored equipment out of surge storage and into building 3.
    • Fall 2008- Classes begin in Renovated Building 3
