Currently 1500 students from throughout the Colleges of Science and Engineering, as well as from many other departments in the University, take a year of Freshman Physics as part of their academic program. The renovated Physics teaching labs are designed to provide a safe and effective environment for these students to conduct experiments in mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, electricity and magnetism. Students in both the algebra based College Physics sequence (PHY 121L, PHY 122L and PHY123L) and the calculus based General Physics sequence (PHY 131L, PHY 132L and PHY 133L), as well as the sophomore General Physics course (PHY 234L) and the teacher preparation course (SCI 210L) will benefit from the facilities in these lab rooms.
The activities in the teaching labs are supported by the specialized apparatus that will be available in the Physics project rooms and in the Physics stockroom that are also on this floor.
