Dear Graduating Student,

On behalf of the Faculty, Staff, and Students of the College of Science, it is my pleasure to invite you and your family to attend our 53nd Annual Commencement ceremony. The event will be held on Friday, June 12 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. On this day, you will join a long procession of Broncos, stretching back through the years to Cal Poly Pomona's first commencement in 1956. You will become a lifelong member of the growing global family that made this university such a rich and exciting environment for learning.

We expect more than 5,000 parents, family, and friends to attend our commencement ceremony, so I urge you to arrive on campus by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Commencement FAQ

Q: When is Commencement?

A: College of Science's ceremony is on Friday June 12, 2008 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, in the University Quad.

Q: How many times a year does commencement take place?

A: It occurs the spring of each academic year.?

Q: Do I have to register for Commencement?

A: Yes, please go to the Registrar's Office or visit http://www.dsa.csupomona.edu/registrar/ for more information.?

Q: When should I arrive to the ceremony?

A: Please arrive to the ceremony at least one hour prior to the starting of the event.?

Q: What is the timeline for Commencement?

A: For the Commencement Ceremony, candidates are to assemble promptly at 3:45 pm and all guests are requested to be in their seats by 4:00 pm. Procession begins promptly at 4:00 pm and the ceremony concludes at 6:00 pm.?

Q: Where do I line-up?

A: There will be designated line-up area (signs will indicate where you should line up), and a registration table for you to sign in near the front of the line. There you will be given a card to fill out. You will present the card to an assistant just prior to going on stage.?

Q: Are tickets required for graduate and guest(s) to attend the Commencement Ceremony?

A: No, all seating is on a first come, first served basis.?

Q: Is parking complimentary?

A: Parking for all official commencement events is complimentary.?

Q: Would there be any special seating accommodations for graduates and guest with a disability?

A: Students and guests who may need special assistance should register with Disability Resource Center (www.dsa.csupomona.edu/drc/) in advance. There will be no reserved seating; however, ample seating will be available. There will be a designated area for handicapped seating. Disabled/elderly seating is limited to the disabled and elderly and one additional guest only.
