What you get

You will be paid a stipend for your participation in the program. The stipend you are paid is compensatory based on the workload of the group you select (treatment or control).

Treatment Group Stipend and Benefits

Teachers in the treatment group will receive $10,000 at the end of each year for 5 years, upon completion of all data collection requirements and the professional development course work.

This study is intentionally designed to provide maximum benefit to teachers who wish to become Master Teachers. More specifically, your professional development course work is designed to help you:

Control Group Stipend and Benefits

Teachers in the control group will receive $800 for their participation: $300 in Winter 2012, $200 in Winter 2014, and $300 in Sumer 2016, upon completion of all data collection requirements.

This study is intentionally designed to provide maximum benefits to teachers in the treatment group. Your participation as a control group teachers is critical to the evaluation of the MTF Program.

Nationwide Long-Term Benefits

The ultimate long-term contribution of this study is greater potential for nationwide gains in middle school student's science and math achievement, resulting from professional development courses that enhance teacher's content knowledge, improve their teaching practices and support learning communities that include student teachers.
