Mac OSX Instructions

How to Access Your Personal File Share

  1. Apple key + K (or Finder, Go, Connect to Server)
  2. Type the path to your file share.
    smb://sci-files.win.csupomona.edu/<dept>/<fac or staff>/<username>
  3. Hit + to add to favorite servers.
  4. Click Connect.

Examples,

smb://sci-files.win.csupomona.edu/bio/fac/jpadler

smb://sci-files.win.csupomona.edu/dean/staff/bvnorum

The authentication window should already display "WIN" under the "Workgroup or Domain" field. If not, enter "WIN" and your Cal Poly Bronco username and password. Then click "OK."

Mac users may elect to save password to their keychain.

You should see your personal file share.

How to Access Dept or Group File Share

You can add your dept or group share in Connect to Server, hit + to add, then hit Connect to authenticate.

Alternatively, if you are already connected to your personal share, you can click on your dept share point, in this graphic, it is CHM. You will then see the root of your dept share and can navigate accordingly. This graphic shows the column view of the CHM fac group file share.

Image of group file shareNote: Each user ONLY has access to his/her file share. While you may be able to click on another user's folder, you won't see any files. This is equivalent behavior to Access Denied on Windows file shares.
