Doug, who is Equipment Technician III for the Physics Department, received both a quarterly and annual award from the College of Science. Doug oversees several other technicians, student assistants and upper division labs. He is responsible for all inventory, purchase requisitions and keeping track of Continuing Education accounts. Doug considers modifying and improving lab equipment the “fun” part of his job. Each year he builds approximately 30 new lecture demonstrations that he presents to faculty annual Fall quarter show. Currently the department boasts over 500 demonstrations to choose from. For the past 10 years, Doug has facilitated the Physics Magic Show, which remains a project that is close to his heart.
Doug leads the Southern California Physics Technician Association meetings each year, and is an active member of the Physics Instructional Resource Association. He is also a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers.
