2002 Magnetism and Magnetic Materials Conference

Goal: I am currently expanding my research expertise in magnetism to include magneto-optic microscopy. Since I am currently building a magneto-optic microscope at Cal Poly, I wish to consult with experts in this field at the 2002 Magnetism and Magnetic Materials (MMM) conference in Tampa, Florida (November 11-15). Such microscopes are typically custom-built for the specific needs the experiment. Attending this conference will permit me to share my development ideas directly with senior scientists, who have successfully built such instruments in their institutions.

My leadership role in this conference and my publication in the proceedings will expose Cal Poly's new physics research activities to the international physics community. The expertise that I will encounter at this conference will greatly assist me in the development of our own magnetic microscopy instrument. The instrument will offer physics seniors a wide range of novel thesis projects and facilitate research collaboration with any research group with an interest in imaging magnetic domains at the microscopic level.
